My name is Robin Sternberg and have owned berners since 2001. My brother had purchased one and I fell madly in love. I did some research and learned that they were not easy to acquire. I made many inquiries and finally found a woman I could work with. My first berner didn't live a long a healthy life. The rest of the litter is still alive. I was the unlucky owner and learned how quickly they leave our side. I am still in contact with the breeder of my first berner. She is a wonderful woman.
My second berner is my foundation bitch. She comes from the Carma Que kennels. Her official name is Carma Que's Star Dreaming Dazzler. She has 11 points toward her championship. She has one major and three major reserves. I hope to have her finished by the end of 2008. Through Star I have been able to start a breeding program. My first priority in any breeding is temperament. My goals are to breed healthy, happy dogs with long lives and good orthopedics. As we all know that is easier said than done. I tried doing this with Stars breeding to Ch Great Lakes Guinness Stout. Both Adriana and I decided to keep a puppy out of this special litter. On the home page you will have seen my show prospect. Her official name is Kohav's Boom Boom Avalanche. Adriana kept a boy with the official name of Stouts Robust Porter V Kohav. I can't wait to see these two in the show ring.
Berners are like potato chips. You just can't have one. Prior to Stars' breeding I was given the opportunity to co-own a berner out of two magnificent specimens. Again, it was a Carma Que bitch. Unfortunately, she had to be spayed for orthopedic issues. Her name is CarmaQue's TipToe Thru The Garden. Crush has her CGC and received her first rally novice leg at the 2006 specialty. I look forward to continuing in obedience with Crush.
I am currently a member of The Bernese Mountain Dog Club Of America along with The Heart Of Michigan Bernese Mountain Dog Club. Through these clubs I hope to learn as well as to contribute to the future of the breed I love so much.
